The Y is a diverse organization of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility.

Our membership is 21 million strong, and spread across 2,600 Y associations nationwide. Since no two communities are exactly alike, no two Ys are exactly alike. We bring men, women and children - just like you together - and shared commitment to our communities ensures the opportunities to learn, grow and thrive that we create for all are ones that endure.

While our programs and facilities are always based on the unique needs and interests of our communities, every Y has one thing in common: our people. The volunteers, staff, memenbers and donors of the Y are all united by a deep commitment to strengthing our communities.

Financial Assistance

Y Cares Financial Assistance - For local families and individuals who are unable to afford the Y’s fees, we offer a Financial Assistance Program to help cover the cost of belonging to the Y. Financial assistance is determined on a sliding scale based on total household income and number of dependents, and is available for every branch of the Summit Area YMCA.

Funds can be used for membership and/or program fees, including after-school care, summer day camp, and programs for which additional fees apply, such as sports or aquatics. The need for financial assistance is reassessed every six months. Download a confidential application form in English or Spanish, then complete and return to the branch you intend to use with the requested documentation.

A.W.A.Y. Programs

When you join a YMCA, you are one of millions of members across nearly 10,000 local YMCA communities that the Y serves.

Because each YMCA is an independent non-profit organization, local policies on visiting members will vary. If you plan to visit another YMCA, we recommend calling them to inquire about visiting member policies. Find a YMCA.

Registering for Programs

Program Member registration is required for childcare, day camp, preschool and youth classes, and some adult specialty classes and workshops. The YMCA holds five sessions each year: Fall, Winter, Spring 1, Spring 2 and Summer. Registration begins approximately four weeks prior to each program session and takes place online or in-person at the branch where classes are offered. Nonmembers may register for classes.
Family Members enjoy early registration privileges. Special registrations are held for the YSA Soccer League, YSA basketball league, day camps, adventure Guides and all child care programs. Registration schedules and current program information can be found here and in the YMCA Program Guide.
