Upon your first visit to a Host YMCA (the Y that you are visiting), you must present your valid Y Membership Card and Photo ID. You must complete a “Visiting Member” application form and waiver available at the Host Y Members Services Desk. Some restrictions may apply so go to Host YMCA website to learn more.

Individual Membership is an opportunity for adults or teens to take advantage of the Y's full breadth of programs that promote healthy living. You will have full access to the Summit facility including two pools, extensive fitness center and free weight room, a wide variety of fitness classes, a gymnasium with basketball and volleyball courts, a climbing wall and many other benefits. Everyone is welcome. As a member of the Summit Y, your membership automatically extends privileges to all of our facilities — including our branches in Springfield and Berkeley Heights. You can visit as often as you like, take as many classes and workout in our fitness centers-- at no additional fee. Just show your Member I.D. at the Member Services desk for entry. Exclusions: Youth classes and adult specialty classes that require an additional fee. 7th Grade Free Membership The Summit Area YMCA 7th grade initiative is designed for middle school students in our service area. The intention of this initiative is to promote the well being of young adolescents at a time that is most crucial to their development giving them many choices for healthy living. Area students can join any one of our three (3) branches.

Getting Started Joining Fee — This one-time fee is due in full upon joining or rejoining, and is used to maintain buildings and equipment. Fee is waived for memberships that are renewed within 45 days of expiration. *$5.00 voluntary monthly tax deductible contribution — All monthly membership fees include a $5.00 per month voluntary tax-deductible contribution to the Strong Kids Campaign,which ensures that everyone who wants to participate in Y programs can, regardless of their financial circumstances. Methods of Payment Automatic Monthly Credit Card Payment — An easy way to pay as you go! Your VISA, American Express or MasterCard is debited monthly. Membership is continuous until cancelled in writing. Membership is continuous until cancelled in writing. — Full Payment — Annual dues may be paid in full upon joining and yearly thereafter. Payments are accepted via cash, check or credit card. See Member Services for details. Managing your MembershipFee Changes — The YMCA reserves the right to change membership fees with a 30-day written notice to members. Transferring or Canceling Membership — To cancel your membership or transfer to another branch of the Summit Area YMCA, you must provide written notice thirty days in advance. Membership Cards— Membership cards are issued to all members over the age of 13 and must be presented at Member Services each time you enter the facility. Membership cards are not transferable. Locker Rentals— Lockers are available to members. Arrangements may be made at Member Services. Gift Certificates— Gift Certificates for membership or programs may be purchased at Member Services. Class Transfers — A nominal charge may apply. Transfers will be made without charge in cases of inappropriate class placement or class cancellation. Program Cancellations— The YMCA reserves the right to cancel or combine classes due to insufficient enrollment or other circumstances beyond its control. If we cancel any class in which you are enrolled, you will be given a full refund/credit or placed in another class. Financial AssistanceY Cares Financial Assistance - For local families and individuals who are unable to afford the Y’s fees, we offer a Financial Assistance Program to help cover the cost of belonging to the Y. Financial assistance is determined on a sliding scale based on total household income and number of dependents, and is available for every branch of the Summit Area YMCA.Funds can be used for membership and/or program fees, including after-school care, summer day camp, and programs for which additional fees apply, such as sports or aquatics. The need for financial assistance is reassessed every six months. ProgramsWhen you join a YMCA, you are one of millions of members across nearly 10,000 local YMCA communities that the Y serves.Because each YMCA is an independent non-profit organization, local policies on visiting members will vary. If you plan to visit another YMCA, we recommend calling them to inquire about visiting member policies. Find a YMCA. Registering for ProgramsProgram Member registration is required for childcare, day camp, preschool and youth classes, and some adult specialty classes and workshops. The YMCA holds five sessions each year: Fall, Winter, Spring 1, Spring 2 and Summer. Registration begins approximately four weeks prior to each program session and takes place online or in-person at the branch where classes are offered. Nonmembers may register for classes.Family Members enjoy early registration privileges. Special registrations are held for the YSA Soccer League, YSA basketball league, day camps, adventure Guides and all child care programs.
